In
October I started thinking about the new Pontiac Trans Am s with ram air.
I though it would be nice to own one. And I just had to go look at the
prices even through I already owned a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am. I just wanted
to see the cost and maybe what kind of deal they would give me on my 1995
Pontiac Trans Am as a trade in. The blue book value of my 1995 Trans Am
as a trade was $13,000. I wanted between $16,000 and $17,000 for it. They
said they could give me $16,000 if I were to buy a new 1998. The final
price with or with out trade in was $29,600 after recalculating my payments
we concluded that my new payments would be less than my previous. This
was what pushed me in to the deal. I decided it was time to make the order.
So we started putting it in the computer. I wanted 1998 Trans Am w/ WS6,
T-tops, automatic, Tape deck (-$100) with CD Changer, and RED. The ETA
was 1st of February. I was told the only condition on the trade
would be that I kept the 1995 under 30,000 miles.
On the Tuesday
28th of October 1997, I went to Con Paulos in Jerome, Idaho.
I order a 1998 Trans Am w/ ram air. I called Con Paulos after Christmas
to check and see if it had been preferenced. They told me that it was preferenced
the 23rd of January.
Then
the build date was pushed off from February to the 1st week of March. After
many calls to my dealer I soon found that I knew more than the dealer through
F-body mail and news. After much antisipation I recieved a call from a
buddy of mine that he saw a car like the one I ordered on a transport truck
in town. After going to the dealership and finding that it hadn't came
by. We had the dealer call around found that there hadn't been any deliveries.
So on our way home we intercepted the truck just about to enter the Freeway
heading to the dealer. We followed the truck back to the dealer. After
that we got videos of the unloading and everything.
The bottom line deal I pay $3 less/month on the new payment. The car cost $27,550
at the bottom. I recieved the car at 3Pm Saturday 4/11/98 with 6 miles on the meter. :-)
