Female Intermittent Self-Catheterization From a Wheelchair
Self-Catheterization From a Wheelchair
Introducing a video titled, "Female Intermittent Self-Catheterization From a Wheelchair". This 11 1/2 minute video demonstrates a clean technique for intermittent self-catheterization that benefits female paraplegics and provides a teaching aid for rehab professionals. Also available is an informative booklet that not only describes the technique, but gives instructions for making a "Apron Carryall". Both the video and the booklet are invaluable tools every hospital and rehab center should have!

No woman should feel housebound because she is worried about getting caught away from home and not being able to catheterize! My name is Lori. I'm a homemaker from rural Idaho. In 1993, I was in an accident that left me with a back injury at T-5 and paraplegic. As a result of my own experience in dealing with self-catheterization, and because this type of resource was not available when I was in rehab, I developed this video and companion booklet for women who are paraplegic. The technique demonstrated allows the user greater flexibility in scheduling and mobility. The carry-all apron will encourage and make life a little simpler for women who find themselves in circumstances similar to my own.   -   Lori Osborne
